My multi-disciplinary practice incorporates abstract painting, sculpture, sound and film. I am working on a series of paintings in oil based mixed media, deeply rooted in the vibrant tapestry of street life, capturing the essence of urban existence through abstract imagery and an emotive palette.
These paintings seek to explore a re-occurring theme in my work; the ways and places humans meet and interact, and the fine line we tread between chaos and order. The abstraction allows for a fluid interpretation, where the viewer can find their own meaning and connection.
As with all elements of my practice, I invite viewers to immerse themselves in the world I have created, to feel the energy and to see beyond the surface.
Please see my website www.rebeccabarnardart.com for further information and examples on all aspects of my multi-disciplinary practice.
Based in Somerset, Rebecca Barnard's creative practice is rooted in a fascination for the paradoxes and complexities of human behaviour; our relationship with ourselves and the planet over which we have temporary guardianship. She is interested in the struggle for understanding and balance, both as a species and as an independent human being. Her work is inherently designed to echo that fragile place in both form, process and viewer interaction.
