Jade Pinnell creates unique cast glass sculpture that can be seen in galleries across the Uk.

‘Glass possesses qualities that are both beautiful and fascinating. I am captured by its transparency and its ability to hold a moment in time. My work explores light and its interactions with form and negative spaces. I use negative space within my work to draw light into the forms and create distortion. The forms are angular and structural; this allows me to contain/frame the movement and chaos residing within. Other inspirations and themes for my work include architecture, urban landscapes and my own curiosities and reactions to/of my surroundings.

As a cast glass artist jade works with an array of different materials and mould making techniques. She creates wax and clay models which are then cast into solid glass using the kiln forming technique. Once the pieces emerge from the kiln, Jade then uses a series of ‘cold-working’ processes including grinding and polishing to finish the works.

Jade Pinnell is a cast glass artist residing in Somserset. Jade studied Decorative Arts at  Nottingham Trent University. There  she enjoyed experimenting with many materials but was captivated, in particular, by glass. Since graduating in 2010, Jade has trained with glass artists from the UK and around the world including Australia and New Zealand.  Currently, Jade is a studio artist and tutor at The Glass Foundry in Gloucestershire. Here Jade works on large scale commissions for commercial businesses and with other artists.
